Solana will replace its blockchain’s consensus system on Oct. 21, targeting transaction finality in approximately 150 milliseconds.

On Oct. 13, Anza, the blockchain network’s core developer, announced the mainnet activation date, setting the stage for one of the most significant infrastructure changes in Solana’s history.

The upgrade, known as Alpenglow, will replace TowerBFT, the mechanism that currently takes approximately 12.8 seconds to finalize transactions. If successful, the change would reduce finality times by nearly 99%, bringing the network closer to instantaneous settlement.

The planned overhaul follows Solana’s recent reduction in block-production times to about 200 milliseconds, another improvement designed to speed up transaction processing.

However, Alpenglow addresses a different limitation: the delay between processing a transaction and the point at which the network considers it irreversible.

Solana targets faster settlement for payments and financial markets

Under Solana’s existing consensus mechanism, validators establish finality by submitting votes as blockchain transactions, with agreement accumulating across multiple blocks.

Alpenglow introduces a new system called Votor, which allows validators to exchange votes directly and combine them into cryptographic certificates. This lets blocks become final after one or two voting rounds, significantly reducing the time needed to reach network-wide agreement.

According to the Solana Foundation, the change could benefit financial applications that depend on finalized transactions before releasing funds or executing subsequent operations.

For instance, payment providers could reduce the time between receiving a transfer and treating the funds as settled, while trading platforms could complete settlement-dependent operations more quickly.

The improvement could also strengthen Solana’s position in tokenized assets and stablecoin payments, where reliable settlement is essential for transferring value between financial institutions and applications.

Importantly, the 150-millisecond figure remains a performance target rather than an established mainnet result. Actual finality will depend on network conditions, validator participation, and the number of voting rounds required.

The upgrade also leaves transaction execution unchanged, so existing applications will largely continue operating without modifying their underlying programs.

Meanwhile, removing validator votes from blockchain transactions should free up capacity for user activity, though it could also cause an apparent decline in Solana’s reported transaction counts.

A separate component of Alpenglow, known as Rotor, which will overhaul how blocks are distributed across the network, is planned for a later release.

Live-network migration puts validator readiness to the test

Despite the potential performance gains, implementing Alpenglow requires Solana to replace its consensus system while the blockchain remains operational.

According to the migration schedule, activation will begin around 15:00 UTC on Oct. 21, at the start of epoch 1064.

However, the network will continue running TowerBFT for another 5,000 slots (about 18 minutes) before attempting the transition to Votor.

The handover requires validators representing at least 82% of staked SOL to sign a genesis certificate, establishing a common starting point for the new consensus system.

During the transition, user transactions will briefly stop being included in blocks, with normal processing expected to resume once the new system takes over.

Validator operators must also prepare their infrastructure beforehand.

The upgrade requires software built on Agave 4.3.0, while Firedancer and Frankendancer clients will not be supported during the migration. Validators must additionally maintain at least 0.8 SOL above their rent-exempt balance to cover a new participation fee.

Those who fail to meet the funding requirement will be excluded from voting and block production in the next epoch.

Alpenglow has already completed deployments on Solana’s testnet and devnet, providing opportunities to identify problems before the mainnet transition.

However, those rehearsals do not guarantee the same results in production.

The October 21 migration will therefore provide the first live-network evidence of whether Solana can safely replace its consensus system and consistently deliver finality near the 150-millisecond target.c

Institutional demand and sustained capital allocation into spot Solana funds remain a cornerstone of the token’s upward trajectory. Continued inflows into regulated spot Solana investment vehicles, particularly staking-focused exchange-traded products, have provided consistent buy-side liquidity that continues to absorb market selling pressure. This structural institutional bid has reinforced Solana’s standing as a premier Layer-1 network, encouraging capital rotation from broader digital asset markets into high-throughput smart contract platforms as institutional and sophisticated investors seek yield and performance advantages.

Underpinning this price strength is tangible progress on the protocol’s core technological roadmap. The mainnet advancement of the SIMD-0525 upgrade, which reduces target block slot times down to 250 milliseconds, has substantially lowered confirmation latency and expanded network processing capacity. Accompanied by the rollout of the expanded Transaction V1 format, these core engineering enhancements significantly improve execution efficiency for latency-sensitive applications, decentralized finance protocols, and automated trading venues. These network improvements coincide with robust on-chain expansion, marked by record activity in daily active stablecoin addresses and steady capital inflows into tokenized real-world assets, signaling that network performance gains are translating into measurable fundamental adoption.

From a broader market structure perspective, derivatives positioning has expanded alongside on-chain metrics, with rising open interest reflecting heightened institutional conviction and speculative participation. Despite macroeconomic headwinds and shifting monetary policy expectations following recent Federal Reserve interest rate adjustments, Solana has shown market-leading resilience driven by asset-specific catalysts. However, institutional investors continue to monitor potential leverage liquidations in derivatives markets, network stability during high-throughput utilization, and broader macroeconomic risk appetite that could influence risk-asset valuations over the medium term.

Technically, Solana (SOLUSD) shows a MACD (12,26,9) value of 0.661, indicating a buy signal.
Charles Schwab, one of the largest brokerages in the United States, said it plans to add Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX) and Chainlink (LINK) to its Schwab Crypto platform, broadening the service beyond the Bitcoin and Ethereum it already lists. The firm detailed the move in a press release published on Aug. 27, saying the three assets would be rolled out over the coming months. Schwab Crypto launched for clients in May 2026 and currently offers direct spot trading of the two largest cryptocurrencies, with the platform serviced by the company’s bank subsidiary.

What Schwab Crypto offers today

At present, Schwab Crypto supports direct spot trading of Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two assets it opened with at its May launch. Adding Solana, Avalanche and Chainlink would mark the first time the brokerage has expanded that list since then, and it would hand Schwab’s clients direct exposure to three networks that underpin a wide range of decentralized applications. Solana in particular has been undergoing network-level changes, with proposals SIMD-550 and SIMD-553 aimed at trimming SOL issuance. The company framed the new additions as a phased rollout and has not yet published exact listing dates for any of the three tokens.

Why the expansion matters

The announcement extends a broader pattern of traditional financial firms deepening their crypto offerings. Institutions such as JPMorgan, which grew its Bitcoin ETF stake to $356 million, have been broadening exposure beyond the two largest cryptocurrencies, and a brokerage of Schwab’s size adding altcoins is another sign that mainstream venues see durable demand. Running the service through its bank subsidiary also lets Schwab keep custody and execution within its existing regulated infrastructure rather than relying on an outside crypto venue.

What is still unclear

Schwab has not specified a timeline beyond the coming months, and it has not said whether the three tokens will go live at once or in stages. The company also did not detail custody arrangements or whether additional assets could follow after Solana, Avalanche and Chainlink. Trading volumes will depend on liquidity and demand once the tokens are actually listed, so the practical impact remains to be seen. These are forward-looking plans from Schwab rather than completed listings, and each token still has to clear the firm’s regulatory and operational steps before it can be traded.

Hold that image for a moment, because the timing makes it heavier: this month money has been leaving every corner of finance, stocks, bonds, risk assets of all kinds, and piling into cash, with the Investment Company Institute counting nearly $8 trillion parked in money market funds. That is money waiting, and when it moves, crypto has always caught the fastest part of it. So the question hanging over the market is not whether it recovers, it is what will already be positioned when that cash arrives.

Solana is one of the names proving the recovery is starting, back above $80 this week, and the full picture below explains why that rebound and this sellout belong in the same story.

The Sellout Accelerates as the Solana Price Reaches for $500

The announcement leads the update: remaining presale supply is shrinking faster than in any earlier stage, entries keep arriving daily, and the raise has passed $10.398 million through a market most projects found unworkable. Growth through conditions like these is the strongest signal a funding round can send.

Now the market around it. The Solana price sits at $81 today according to Coinmarketcap, and Yahoo Finance reports most analyst predictions now average roughly $500 for the Solana price in 2026. A $500 target sounds like a dream, until the calculator comes out. From $81 that is about a 6x, strong by any traditional measure, but crypto has always been built for far more, and Solana’s own history proves it: buyers who picked up SOL under $1 in 2020 and sold at the $293 peak walked away with over 290x, the multiple that turns a modest entry into generational money. That exact trade cannot exist anymore, because a $47 billion market cap already ate the room those multiples need.

The pattern is repeating in 2026, only the stage moved. The last wave already broke, a new one is building, and every cycle the earliest to spot it are the ones history remembers. This time it is forming around Ethereum-based meme coins with real DeFi utility, and one name keeps pulling the spotlight in crypto news, Pepeto.

Pepeto Draws the Smart Money as the Wave Forms

What makes Pepeto special begins, honestly, as a puzzle. A presale growing through a dead market almost never happens, and only one explanation has ever fit that picture: the biggest wallets buy when they know more than the crowd, and smart money usually does.

Behind the presale, a DeFi revolution is being prepared. A cross-chain bridge running lock-and-mint technology at very low fees, powerful enough on its own to secure the project’s future, plus a complete exchange that routes through the Pepeto token itself, tying platform activity to token demand by design.

The utility alone could carry this project, but the origin matters just as much: Pepeto is a meme coin, and all a meme coin has ever needed is virality. Pepeto already commands a massive wave of it before launch, spreading with no paid promotion behind it, and this market has learned to pay attention when finished tools and viral reach arrive inside the same token. Staking pays presale wallets 169% APY before any listing, and the presale runs only through the official website, since the token is not listed on any exchange yet.

Conclusion

The Solana price may well reach its $500 target, but history keeps repeating one lesson for anyone willing to hear it. SOL under $1 became $293, and every fortune from that run belonged to buyers who entered before the crowd learned the name. The pattern never changes, only the crypto does.

Now weigh what this announcement puts on the table. A presale allocation nearing sellout, more than $10.398 million raised through a dead market, holder growth at record pace, staking paying 169% APY before any listing, and a DeFi build carrying a cross-chain bridge and its own exchange under a name already going viral, all while nearly $8 trillion in sidelined cash waits for its signal. The presale remains open at the current stage price, and the exchange listing on the roadmap will close that chapter for good, and the only place to see how much of the allocation is actually left is the official website below.

The people who held SOL under $1 and sold near $293 know what that kind of morning feels like.

Why the Crypto ETF Market May Be Entering a Commodity Phase

Morgan Stanley’s proposed ethereum and solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) would enter a market where issuers increasingly offer similar exposure to the same assets. The firm recently amended both filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to include a 0.14% management fee, below Grayscale’s 0.15% and Franklin Templeton’s 0.19%. The narrow spread signals intensifying price competition.

Brian Rudick, chief strategy officer at Solana treasury company Upexi and formerly head of research at crypto trading firm and liquidity provider GSR, argued that the fee matters less than what it suggests about the market’s development. On July 9, he shared on X:

“Issuers don’t compete on price until the product is close to a commodity and the fight is for share, the same compression the spot BTC ETFs went through.”

“ SOL ETF AUM already crossed $1B, led by Bitwise’s BSOL, so there is real share to fight over,” he added.

The argument places the 0.14% fee within a shift from product creation to asset gathering. Once several issuers offer similar exposure, management costs become one of the clearest points of distinction. His comparison with spot bitcoin ETFs suggests ethereum and solana products may be entering the same phase of fee compression.

Bitwise launched its solana ETF, BSOL, on NYSE Arca in October 2025, marking the first U.S.-listed vehicle to provide direct exposure to spot SOL. The fund goes beyond simple price tracking by actively staking its holdings, allowing staking rewards to contribute to fund returns after applicable expenses.

How Morgan Stanley Designed the Ethereum and Solana Trusts

The Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust would trade on NYSE Arca under the ticker MSSE and track the Coindesk Ether Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rate. Alongside its proposed 0.14% fee, Morgan Stanley Investment Management intends to stake 50% to 80% of the trust’s ether under normal conditions.

BNY and Coinbase Custody would hold the ethereum trust’s assets. Staking providers and custodians would receive an aggregate 5% of staking rewards, leaving the remainder with the trust. Net rewards would be distributed monthly, but at least quarterly, though the filing does not guarantee the amount.

The Morgan Stanley Solana Trust would trade on NYSE Arca under the ticker MSOL and track the Coindesk Solana Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rate. It would also carry a proposed 0.14% fee. The trust may stake up to 100% of its SOL while keeping some holdings unstaked for redemptions, expenses and distributions.

BNY and Coinbase Custody would also serve as custodians for MSOL. Staking providers and custodians would receive 5% of staking rewards, leaving 95% with the trust. Net rewards would be distributed monthly, but at least quarterly, while validator block rewards and transaction fees would not accrue to shareholders.

What Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin ETF Shows About the Strategy

Morgan Stanley has already used the same fee level in its spot bitcoin product. The Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust began trading under the ticker MSBT on April 8, 2026, with a 0.14% annual management fee. That undercut Blackrock’s IBIT at 0.25% and Bitwise’s spot bitcoin ETF at 0.20%.

MSBT became the first proprietary spot cryptocurrency ETF launched under the name of a major U.S. commercial bank. As of July 10, 2026, it traded at $18.47 per share and held about $364.23 million in total net assets. Its debut ranked in the top 1% of ETF launches by volume and early adoption.

The proposed ETH and SOL funds remain preliminary, and shares cannot be sold until the registration statements become effective. No firm launch dates have been announced. SEC effectiveness and subsequent asset flows would show whether Morgan Stanley’s combination of low fees, staking income and bank-backed distribution can win market share.

Western Union’s decision to build on Solana isn’t just another stablecoin integration, but a signal that the foundations of global payments may be starting to shift. For decades, Western Union has been synonymous with cross-border money movement, built on a network of intermediaries, settlement layers, and regional constraints. Behind the surface, this move suggests a potential shift in how global payment infrastructure is being built, upgraded, and ultimately replaced.

How Solana Could Fit Into The Future Of Global Money Movement

Western Union’s decision to build USDPT on Solana is more than just another stablecoin headline; it’s a signal that the role of stablecoins is moving from crypto narrative to real payment infrastructure. The CEO of MEXC and Honorary Chairman of MVenturesLabs, Vugar Usi, has pointed out on X that for years, stablecoins have mainly been seen as trading tools, and were a way for traders to move capital faster, manage liquidity, and reduce friction in crypto.

However, when a global remittance giant begins building a dollar-based payment token on SOL, the narrative shifts from trading utility to real-world infrastructure. This is no longer about traders optimizing capital flow, but about real-world settlement, treasury management, and cross-border payments operating on new rails.

Furthermore, it’s about replacing slow, fragmented financial rails with infrastructure that operates seamlessly in the background. In Vugar Usi’s view, SOL is validated as a payment rail, and stablecoins as a real financial infrastructure. Thus, exchanges should be ready with liquidity, access, education, and simple user journeys.

For platforms like MEXC, this shift carries clear implications, because adoption does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes, it arrives through better rails, faster settlement, and fewer reasons for users to care about the backend. If these rails disappear, that’s when crypto will win.

Is Solana Entering The Kind Of Zone Where Reversals Begin?

Solana is going through one of those moments that tend to define the market cycle. Crypto analyst Robert revealed that SOL price has taken a severe hit, down 71% from its 2025 all-time high (ATH). At the same time, Solana’s Net Unrealized Profit/Loss (NUPL) is sitting deep at 0.67 in full capitulation territory, a level that typically reflects that holders are sitting on heavy unrealized losses.

Data from Fidelity Investments suggests that historically, similar conditions have preceded strong rebounds, with a median of over 516% the following year. Meanwhile, they’re quick to emphasize the limitations of a small sample size, weak correction, and that past performance may not repeat itself.

On the bright side, network usage is rising, with monthly active addresses up 50%, new addresses growing over 35%, and stablecoin flows are holding steady. However, this shift shows that real utility is building even as the price is down, but on-chain activity tells a more resilient story.

Solana was under significant selling pressure last week, but it’s now showing signs of a bullish comeback. However, savvy traders are switching to Lunex Network’s viral presale which has already raised more than $1,270,000 USDT in record time.

Can Solana (SOL) Reach $330 Before 2025?

Solana was on a bearish trend after spending the last seven days in the red zone. Since Solana’s price was down by 5.58% last week, analysts projected steeper declines in Q4. However, one renowned analyst believes Solana could breach its critical resistance and reach $330 by the end of Q4. Due to this bullish prediction, investors are regaining interest in Solana as the token’s volume has increased by 110% over the last 24 hours.

Solana is currently trading for $147.14 after a 1.91% intraday increase. Given Solana’s strong technological developments such as the recent release of Frankendancer and the upcoming release of Firedancer in 2025, Solana appears to be regaining bullish momentum in Q4. If Solana can break above its 200-day SMA at $153.03 soon, Solana’s price could surge up to the $169.36 resistance in the next few weeks.

Lunex Network (LNEX) Redefines Trading with New DeFi Exchange

Lunex Network (LNEX) is emerging as a powerful force in the crypto DeFi exchanges space as it soars through its explosive presale. This state-of-the-art protocol makes use of the most advanced blockchain technologies to offer a variety of interesting perks to traders. Even loyal Solana users are now switching to Lunex Network due to its unmatched interoperability features, smart contracts, and more than 50,000 compatible crypto pairs.

The biggest reason why Lunex Network is gaining traction is the platform’s commitment to bringing trust and privacy back to crypto trading. Unlike most centralized exchanges, Lunex Network has a robust no-KYC policy that allows traders to maintain their anonymity while trading. Even high-profile investors who need to keep their identity a secret due to business reasons are rapidly switching to Lunex Network’s viral exchange.

The best part about trading on Lunex Network is the lightning-fast transaction speeds and lowest gas fees in the market. By using smart contracts to split trades across various networks, Lunex Network sources liquidity from different chains and gives traders the lowest possible transaction cost on every trade. To make things even better, Lunex Network is simplifying the entire trading experience with its incredibly easy to use UI. With Lunex Network’s mobile exchange, traders can simply select a crypto pair to swap, enter a recipient wallet address, and make a deposit using the generated QR code. After this quick process, traders can receive their new tokens in a matter of minutes.

Although Lunex Network is still in the fourth stage of its presale LNEX tokens are selling out fast. Since Lunex Network has already managed to raise more than 1,270,000 USDT in record time, analysts are tipping at a massive 1800% price surge as more traders are expected to jump ship to Lunex Network ahead of the upcoming bull run.

For now, LNEX tokens are selling for a surprisingly low price of only $0.0017 each, making it an ideal investment opportunity for savvy traders who are looking for big gains.
